This is NOT a racist or hate filled site.  So please don't judge its contents by the graphics.  I am a history buff, who is infatuated with "the old south".

What it means to be "Southern Born and Southern Bread"

My family and I were were, "Southern born, and southern bread". This means, we were born and raised in the south, Dixie as we call it. With this raising, and breeding, came some life learned lessons, such as proper manners when dealing with your "elders". There are many more lessons, but I'll get into that in a minute.

Just because a person is southern doesn't mean they are prejudiced. True southen "folk" are some of the nicest, most hospitable people you could ever meet...providing you rememer your "raisins" or "manners". We talk a little diffrent, and eat a little diffrent than our "yankee" counter parts. Its just how we were raised. And, using the good Lord's name inappropriately down here can lead to a lot of trouble. Here, we take the Bible as FACT, not myth, legend or stories.  The Ten Commandments are the laws we live by, and don't even think about eating your meals until AFTER the "blessin" is said.  Many a "youngin" has gotten their hide tanned for such things.

In this site, hopefully through both humor and fact, I will attempt to bring "Dixie" alive.  In my links, I'll introduce you to a lot of other good ol' Dixie folk.  So, come on and take trip through Dixie.

The Things you just "Know" if you were born and raised in "Dixie"

  • What an "elder" is.
  • Don't use the words "yeah" "what" "huh" "no" or "whatever" if an "elder" asks you a question or tells you to do something.
  • Pretty much how many fish make up a "mess".
  • That "gimme sugar" doesn't mean "pass me the sugar."
  • Why granny has a cane!
  • Ain't nobody's biscuits like Grandma's biscuits!
  • What the term "out behind the woodshed means".
  • That when somebody says they're "fixin" to do something, it won't be long.
  • If you want something, don't walk up to your parents and say "give me ____ NOW"
  • The differences between a redneck, a good ol' boy, and white trash.
  • That the term "don't forget your raisins" does not mean the dried out fruit.
  • Rocking chairs and swings with an old person in them are history lessons.
  • Why you wear gloves when "pickin cotton".
  • A belt serves a greater purpose than holding Daddy's pants up.
  • Momma has other uses for a bar of soap than just bathing with.
  • Moonshine does not mean that "the moon is shining".
  • There are other uses for a spatula than just turning eggs.
  • What a shotgun wedding is.
  • What true happiness really is.
  • The difference between a hissie fit and a conniption.
